Memory

The more memory your computer has, the more processes can be running at once. Don't try to fetch more JPGs then you have memory available. Monitor your computers memory usage with Task Manager when tuning the JPG Fetcher.

File system

Limit to 25 sub-folders per picture root directory.
Limit 1,500 JPGs per folder, and note that the Slide Show Generator creates HTML files that doubles the number of files.
Save JPGs to a file system that is on a different physical hard drive then that of the computer's operating system.
Folders that are full of JPGs and been Slide Show generated can be copied to CDROM for achieves.

Internet Connectivity

DSL/Cable can fetch more JPGs in the initial batch.
Analog Phone Line should limit the number of JPGs fetched in the initial batch and increase the delay between galleries. Setup in Automatic Fetch Mode and let run over night.

Operating System

Although Perl Ball runs on all Windows platforms, Windows 95-98-ME lacks the true multi-tasking of NT-W2K-XP.
